The Finch: Chapter Thirty Four
Chapter Thirty Four
Georgia and Hugo then flew to the first of their two mission stops. It was a town about two hours away. Each flew for one hour while the other one slept. It was dawn when they arrived, and they landed at the dock and checked in.
It took them an hour to find the right house, but eventually they did. They wanted to just leave the delivery on the door, but Charles and Alexander needed paperwork.
When they knocked, the owner didn't seem happy to have someone come by so early. Georgia gave him a glare though, and he took the delivery and filled out the paperwork. Hugo wondered if Georgia would have shot him in the shins if he had refused.
Georgia and Hugo then left the town and flew to their last stop. It was a city in the south of Parinpe. It was about an hour and fifty minutes away. Again, they split the time with one of them flying while the other slept.
They arrived at the dock and landed the Finch. Georgia asked Hugo, "What are we delivering and to who?"
Hugo tiredly answered, "Some stuff ... to someone in there."
"More specifics, future Midshipman."
Hugo said, "The last long box in transportation storage area A. It is going to Quinn's Decorative Items. It is located at 342 Deci Boulevard."
"Do you know how to get there?"
"Yes O' amazing Captain, I have a map provided by Charles and Alexander."
"Is it easy to get to?"
Hugo thought and said, "We must climb a mountain, ford a river, and descend into a canyon."
"I will ignore your answer, now current Midshipman."
"The shop seems to be on the other side of town. I don't know the distance, but the route is not complicated."
"How long will it take to get there?"
"Four or five years?"
"Recalculate that, Ensign."
"Maybe half an hour, Captain."
"Alright, but if there's one more joke," and Georgia snapped her fingers and said, "Crewmember."
Georgia and Hugo got off the Finch and load the box onto a cart. They went to the dock building and checked in. After that, they walked into the town, with Hugo pushing the cart and Georgia walking beside him.
"So, possible Galley Member Hugo, where is Quinn's."
"Oh just up ahead, O future Admiral."
Georgia and Hugo arrived at a shop with sign hanging from it that said, "Quinn's Decorative Items." Georgia reached for the door, but it was locked.
Hugo knocked, but no one answered.
Hugo said, "Maybe Quinn is out. Can we just leave the box here?"
"No Lieutenant. Remember, Charles and Alexander require paperwork. We need to wait for Quinn to come back or find him or her."
"But Captain, another delay? I'm really kind of tired. What if Quinn doesn't come back? What if finding Quinn requires us to battle eighteen ships and get captured five times?"
"It does sort of feel like are lives are coming to that, doesn't it Lieutenant?"
"I couldn't deal with it Captain? For all we know, this Quinn has been captured and is being held at the bottom of the ocean and is being guarded by an angry giant octopus."
"An angry giant octopus?"
"We've been attacked by a Ptarmigan, a Flying Fish, and a Yellow Jacket."
"I do see the point."
"Here's what we do Captain, watch." Hugo took a step back and said, "I hereby declare my name to be Quinn." Then he stepped back again and said, "Oh look, a package for me! Here let me fill out some paperwork."
"Lieutenant."
"Look, when they ask if Quinn got the package, you can say, 'A Quinn, got the package.' As long as they don't delve too deep, it will work."
"Lieutenant."
"But Captain. Who knows where Quinn is? Quinn isn't here. Quinn could be anywhere? I've never looked for a Quinn, Captain, and I wouldn't know how to find one. Maybe Quinn's are nomadic. Quinn could be wandering in all sorts of places."
"How about we just leave the package here and forge the paperwork?"
"Yes Captain!"
"No. We will somehow find Quinn."
"Captain, you know looking for Quinn will be bad. You know it. Look at our last couple of days. You know it. We should go, Captain. Now. Please?"
A man then walked up to Georgia and Hugo and looked at them and the shop. He said, "Can I help you?"
Hugo asked, "Could you pretend to be Quinn?"
"Lieutenant."
The man answered, "No, I don't think I could." Then he walked to the shop's door and unlocked it.
Georgia looked at him and with puzzlement asked, "Are you Quinn?"
The man said, as he walked inside, "Yes, and I'm still thinking if I could pretend to be myself."
Hugo shouted as he followed the man in, "Hey, that wasn't funny!"
Georgia walked in pushing the cart. She said, "We have something for you Quinn."
Quinn asked, "What?"
Hugo shouted, "A shot to the shins!"
Georgia said, "No, we have a box of metal items from Charles and Alexander."
Quinn asked, "Really?"
Hugo seemed to get mad and said, "No. Let me tell you why we're really here. First, we’re going to shoot you in the shins. Then we're going to take you to the bottom of the ocean and have an angry giant octopus guard you. After that, I'm not sure!"
Quinn asked, "An angry giant octopus?"
Hugo jumped and said, "Oh yeah, he won't be pleasant at all. Let's see how your day is then, funny person."
Georgia said, "We've had a tough couple of days. It's been … it's been something. If you want some metal things, take this box and fill this out. If you don't want some metal things … take this box and fill this out anyway, it's been a tough couple of days. We just want to go home."
Quinn said, "We'll I guess I could take the box and fill out that thing."
Hugo said, "Guess? Guess? I'm going to shoot his shins Captain. You go find an octopus."
Quinn said, "You know, he seems upset."
Georgia said, "Slightly … now take the box and fill this out, or we're going to be flying over some water."
Quinn said, "Alright, alright. Here, I've take the box … and here, I've filled out the form. Are you both happy now?"
Georgia handed Quinn a receipt as Hugo asked, "You want happy?" Then he took his weapon from his holster and pointed it Quinn's shins. Quinn saw him, jumped back and fell to the ground. Hugo stepped forward and said, "Now I'm happy."
